When to visit
If you want to know the best time of year to visit Africa for your family safari just give us a call on 01604 628979. There is always somewhere in Africa that has superb game viewing conditions whether it’s Christmas, Easter, the main summer holiday, or one of the half term breaks.
As you may have found from your own research the question of where to go at what time is quite complicated. Africa has several different climates, and some countries like South Africa have at least two climates within the same country! Someone may tell you not to visit Botswana in December because it’s the “rainy season”, but they may fail to tell you that the first few sparse showers that fall around Christmas after 9 months of unbroken dryness bring the landscape beautifully to life as flowers appear, animals give birth to babies and a hundred species of migrant birds arrive. It’s a very exciting time to be there. Also Botswana the wonderful private reserves of Botswana are superb value for money at that time.
Of course some countries are more clearly seasonal. So for a “last family holiday” adventure with older teenagers who want to try some walking and a bit of canoeing on the Zambezi, you should visit the Luangwa valley and Chiawa or Sausage Tree camp in Zambia, and the only time of year when it’s possible is June to October. Many families like to round off the holiday with a few days at the coast, and the beauty of a properly tailormade safari is that you can combine the perfect safari country with whatever beach destination has ideal weather at the time you wish to travel.
So don’t try and work it out for yourselves, give us a call, tell us your dreams and when you are free to travel, and let us advise you and design the perfect safari adventure for your family.
