Mushara Bushcamp

Mushara Bushcamp is the ideal accommodation for families visiting the Etosha National Park in Namibia. The lodge is situated about 8 kilometres from the Eastern Park gate.

Mushara Bushcamp consists of 16 tents, four of which have been built for families. They are spacious and airy with floor to ceiling windows, private verandas and en-suite bathrooms that overlook the surrounding bush.  Mushara is family friendly with child minders to watch over the children while at play in the children’s pool or children’s corner. Children are kept busy drawing pictures, building puzzles, making cookies and learning all about the wildlife and nature in the Etosha National Park.

Etosha is dominated by a massive mineral pan which is part of the Kalahari Basin which was formed millions of years ago. The pan, which covers 25% of the park, was originally a lake fed by the Kunene River. Thousands of years ago the course of the lake changed and the lake dried up leaving a dusty depression of salt and clay which only fills up for a short time when the rains fall. The temporary waters attract thousands of birds including impressive flocks of flamingos.  A wide range of African game species are represented in the park, including several rare and endangered species such as black rhino which were relocated to the safety of the park in the 1970s and are now one of the few growing populations in Africa.  Lions may be seen in the park, cheetah and leopard also occur and elephant are often to be met in the central regions during the dry season. Visitors to Okaukuejo may watch them drinking at a floodlit waterhole. Springbok, giraffe and zebra are well represented everywhere and kudu - one of the most magnificent of all antelopes, are plentiful in the area around Namutoni.
