Little Tuningi
Little Tuningi accommodates only six guests making it the ideal choice for care free family adventure. It is situated in the 165 000 acre malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa. Few five star luxury lodges offer children such a warm welcome and in doing so gives them the opportunity to experience the wonders of wildlife and nature.
Little Tuningi villa is fully air conditioned and has been designed in such a way to offer guests complete privacy. The villa is beautifully appointed and has a wrap around deck where you can relax and watch the game as it congregates at your very own waterhole.
Madikwe is home to an array of wildlife including leopard, lion, black and white rhino as well as large herds of elephant and buffalo. Cheetah, spotted hyena, giraffe, wild dog, antelope and zebra also inhabit the reserve along with 340 species of bird. Experienced guides will accompany your family on game drives and bushwalks. Children under the age of five will be taken out on “bumbles” with a game ranger. A “bumble” is a one hour game drive to one of the waterholes. The kids are given a workbook where they tick off things as they are seen. Those that stay behind during the normal game drive times will be looked after by nannies. During the morning game drives the nannies will stay with the children until they wake up and take them to the main lodge for breakfast. They are then entertained until their parents return. During the afternoon game drives the children are taken on a treasure hunt to find eggs, nests, snake skins and other fascinating items. They will also be entertained with educational talks and bush tales. Any other free time is spent swimming, drawing and clay modelling. Evening meals are just as much fun. Chefs will interact with the children and help them to make their own treats including assembling their own pizzas and decorating deserts.
