Chongwe River House
Chongwe River House is a uniquely designed private house on the banks of the Zambezi which can accommodate up to 8 guests. The house is an undulating structure which has been moulded around the shapes of twisted branches. The furniture in the guest area has been carved from a single fallen winterthorn tree which appears to have fallen across the room. Beautiful soft coloured pebbles from the Chongwe River have been embedded in the ceilings. There are four large en-suite bedrooms, a massive sitting and dining room and a good sized swimming pool and terrace facing the Lower Zambezi National Park. A private chef and house manager will cater to your every need and will plan all meals and activities to suit your family.
The Lower Zambezi is one of Southern Africa’s premier destinations for peaceful game viewing and tiger fish angling. The Chongwe area is well known for its huge male elephants that feed through the winterthorn grove in which the house is situated and the game viewing experience is enhanced by the fact that the Chongwe River is the main source of water for most of the game in the area. Your family will enjoy a variety of activities including canoeing, boat trips, day and night game drives, walking safaris and fishing.
Chongwe River House is eccentric and flamboyant in its design and will fascinate both young and old.
